1. Electronic Thermostats

Benefits: Electronic thermostats are more efficient because they control temperature more precisely than conventional thermostats. Better temperature control means greater comfort and more energy savings.

2. Heat Recovery Air Exchanger

Benefits: The name says it all: heat recovery. As the stale, humid house air is expelled outdoors and fresh air enters, some of the heat from the outgoing house air is transferred to the incoming fresh air.

3. Urethane Insulation on Rim Joists

In addition to rim joists, all protruding parts of the house, including structures over and under the bay windows, are insulated with urethane.

Benefits: Seals completely.

4. Urethane Insulation around Windows and Doors

Benefits: Urethane insulation around the perimeter of windows and doors makes them airtight and watertight.

5. 1 x 4 Furring on the Inside of Exterior Walls

Benefits: These furring strips add an extra R0.97 factor. In addition, when we install the interior electrical boxes and their wires, we don't cut through the insulation membrane within the exterior walls. The exterior wall insulation remains a continuous energy-saving layer.

6. Low-E Glass Windows with Argon Gas Chamber and Insulating Spacer

Benefits: Regular windows have an R2.1 rating while argon gas windows offer an R4.25 rating.
